Forehead Lift (Endoscopic Forehead Lift or EFL)
The effects of aging are inevitable, and often, the brow and forehead areas show the first signs. The skin begins to lose its elasticity. Sun, wind, and the pull of gravity all affect the face, resulting in frown lines, wrinkling, and an increasing heaviness of the eyebrows. Your tired or sad expression may not reflect how you actually feel. As a result, many people have opted for a procedure known as a forehead lift or brow lift. This procedure can smooth the forehead, raise the brows, raise the upper eyelids, minimize the frown lines and also improve the crow's feet that are around the eyes. It can also be combined with a Midface Lift to lift the tissues under the eyes and upper cheeks.

In the past, forehead or brow lifts were performed through a very large incision stretching from ear to ear on the scalp. In fact, the majority of surgeons today still perform this procedure. Unfortunately, this technique results in a number of unwanted side effects including severe numbness on the scalp and occasionally, severe hairloss around the incision site. In addition, a large amount of hair bearing skin is removed. This often significantly elevates the hairline in a most unnatural way. Because this lift relies on stretching the skin, the results are often fleeting when the skin continues to loosen over time.

Recently, minimally invasive techniques have been developed to address the above mentioned problems. Endoscopic Brow/Forehead and Midface Lifts are the latest advances in facial plastic surgery. These techniques allow Dr. Stein to perform a forehead or midface lift through tiny incisions within the hair. Telescopes and TV monitors are used to visualize the procedure. Through these incisions. Dr. Stein carefully shapes, sculpts and repositions the brows and/or upper cheek areas to rejuvenate the upper eyelids, forehead and the tissues just under the lower eyelids. In addition. Dr. Stein can remove some of the frown muscles between the eyebrows. This can dramatically decrease the furrows between the eyebrows and actually soften the horizontal creases on the forehead. Finally, crow's feet can often be significantly reduced with an endoscopic forehead and midface lift.
